GQ.COM EXCLUSIVE: ADAM HOROVITZ ON LIFE AFTER THE BEASTIE BOYS

GQ.COM EXCLUSIVE: ADAM HOROVITZ ON LIFE AFTER THE BEASTIE BOYS

“We’re done. Oh Yeah. Adam Yauch started the band. It’s not like a thing where we could continue without him,” Adam Horovitz tells GQ’s Zach Baron of trying to find life beyond the Beastie Boys in the wake of bandmate Adam Yauch’s death. "Adam was one of my best friends; I saw him more than I saw my whole family. You know, me, Adam, and Mike were together every day, recording, touring, as friends. And so: huge hole.”

Horovitz has a turn in Noah Baumbach’s up coming While We’re Young in which he plays a square Brooklyn dad. An irony, not entirely lost on him. But he appears to welcome the challenge of doing something new, even if he wasn’t ready to let go of the band. ""It's not that I am not happy where I'm at,” he explains. "I just feel like something else has to happen next, because I was this person for so long, and I'm still that person, but, like, the thing is gone. So I need a thing."
